Introducing Our Traveling Film Fest
We are developing something very exciting. We would like to host an annual or semi-annual film festival in which we’ll travel from city to city, premiering fresh, illuminating and unconventional movies and films from aspiring creatives all over the world. The projects people submit may appear at colleges, military bases, small theaters and more--somewhat similar to what Bob Shaye did in his early years.
Promotion will range from local to worldwide advertising. We may use mediums like posters, social media, online ads and radio ads to inform the masses. Local advertising will most likely take place in the city of the upcoming festival. We’re planning to throw our first event in either Spokane or Seattle, Washington. Subsequent ones might occur in Portland, OR, Salt Lake City, UT, Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Austin, TX and so forth. If the enterprise is successful enough, we might even have some in other countries.
Funds will come in the forms of investments, pledges and donations. This includes payments from 1613 Enterprises itself, crowdfunding sites, such as Kickstarter or Indiegogo, and individuals or companies interested in contributing to our cause. These monies will only be used to fund this and future festivals.
Our mission [with this project] is to enhance the marketing, distributing and merchandising opportunities for creatives worldwide, allowing them to successfully enter the entertainment industry without facing adversity, prejudice or nepotism. We feel that if “unknowns” can display their works in venues and arenas outside the internet, they can penetrate more markets, obtain wider audiences, discover merchandising opportunities not yet realized and possess better recognition. Their bold endeavors might even influence other hopefuls that want to leave their hometowns or lack the courage to do so to pursue their dreams, ultimately helping other hopefuls, and lead better, more fulfilled lives.
Currently, we have only an idea and a plan. We’re developing an online form that creatives can use to submit pertinent data and upload their movies or films. Once the form’s complete, we’ll review people’s submissions and let them know if their content meet the festival’s standards. (We'll have more information about submission guidelines later.) To stay up-to-date, you may return to this article--we’ll edit it once the form’s done--or follow us on our Facebook, Twitter and/or Google+ pages.
That’s all for now. We look forward to hearing from you. Peace.
